spring season review (ziigwan)
Spring was a busy time for the entire family. Men were hunting for food, fishing, and finishing up with their trap lines. Women were taking care of the sugar making, making birch bark containers, and helping the men make their canoes. The children were helping where they could, all the while learning from the elders the skills they would need when they became adults. As the weather got warmer and the leaves on the trees unfolded, the Ojibwe started thinking about moving to their summer homes.
