A Message about this website & curriculum:
Please note:
1. This curriculum was gathered and developed from many wonderful people both past and present who shared their knowledge with us. We owe whatever success we have to their generosity and wisdom.
2. The Development and Review committee consists of Ojibwe and Dakota educators, an American Indian Education Advisory Committee, Non-Native elementary teachers, curriculum specialists and lead teachers.
3. Since time and place figures into many aspects of culture, this curriculum reflects one way of looking at any one subject presented.
4. This curriculum is not intended to be a complete study of any particular subject. New lessons may be added in the future.
5. This project was made possible by the support of the Success for the Future Grant, Independent School District 622, and the ISD 622 Office of Educational Equity.
6. Permission to use original material with copyrights within our curriculum was extended to this non-profit project only.
7. As to the words “is/was” and “are/were” - We acknowledge that many Ojibwe and Dakota people still carry on traditional ways of living. We have made great effort to bring both cultures forward to present day.
