DAKOTA WINTER count
Sam Kills Two, a Brule Dakota, paints a winter count in 1926.
Then the historian of the village would make one picture on a large buffalo hide. The picture was not to tell the entire story but only to remind him of what the story was about so he could tell everyone else.
