naming the stars
They named the constellations and groups of stars just as the ancient Greeks and other Europeans did. What they saw in the stars differed in each culture.
The Europeans saw a Big Dipper - something to drink out of
The Ojibwe saw a Fisher - a brave animal that saved the birds and brought spring
The Dakota saw many things including a Blue Woman and a skunk all with wonderful stories.
