This curriculum was gathered and developed to meet the needs of ISD#622 (North St Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale) elementary teachers as they teach Ojibwe and Dakota culture as addressed in the Minnesota State Standards. These lessons were developed to meet the standards in conjunction with other curriculum that was already in place. It is not meant to cover the whole breadth of any given topic or standard. Also, classroom time constraints were an important consideration as the curriculum was designed. Each grade level had a teacher-In-service to familiarize themselves with the content for their grade level before they began. All of the included curriculum was taught as a pilot program during the 2014-2015 school year. Teachers gave feedback and the curriculum was changed as necessary.
